Under My Skin by Sabine Durrant

The start had the narrator mumbling some random thoughts that I believe tended to confuse rather than explain the main character's present situation. However, after the dead body is found during her walk, things pick up quickly. As the story progress, I start getting impatient with the lady for her lack of perception on what seems to be very obvious. And the trauma she had to endure! This is, however, explained at the very end. Everything falls right in place with the way a secondary character explains what has really happened . The beauty of it all was how the truth was clarified in print and how it actually paved the way for the success of "the master plan" ! Ah! Revenge is so sweet and to actually get away with it! Such bliss! To me - unscrupulous individuals just deserve death!

Before I go to Sleep by SJ Watson: SPOILERS!

This is an excerpt you can find at most book sellers: "Every day Christine wakes up not knowing where she is. Her memories disappear every time she falls asleep. Her husband, Ben, is a stranger to her, and he's obligated to explain their life together on a daily basis--all the result of a mysterious accident that made Christine an amnesiac. With the encouragement of her doctor, Christine starts a journal to help jog her memory every day. One morning, she opens it and sees that she's written three unexpected and terrifying words: "Don't trust Ben." Suddenly everything her husband has told her falls under suspicion. What kind of accident caused her condition? Who can she trust? Why is Ben lying to her? And, for the reader: Can Christine’s story be trusted?"
Okay!Very interesting! However, may I point out that this review has spoilers so if you have not read the book, stop reading right now!
I really found the first part interesting and I could not help but be swayed by the sweetness of the husband! Sigh! He is so much in love with his wife that he diligently took care of her during this medical fiasco! On the other hand, missy here does not remember a single thing about him and is very  unloving with the way she deals with her devoted husband. Then she starts remembering excerpts of her life which includes a son, a friend and another man! Then the whole truth unravels in the end and explains everything. Our main character is actually married to another man and she is a freelance writer with a son. Poor, poor missy is sooooo overwhelmed with taking care of her son that she has her friend babysit him while she supposedly writes. And what does she do? She is so upset with life as a mother that she embarks on an adulterous relationship while her poor husband works and her friend takes care of her son for free when she is supposed to be writing! Seriously? You only have one son, you are a freelance writer with no deadlines, you don't have to commute to a paid babysitter because you have to work, you have a highly successful husband who works and pays the bills, a friend who babysits for free and you screw around? Anyway, after indulging in this extra marital affair because she is so stressed with her taking care of her son, she eventually decides that her husband is better than her lover. So she says adios to lover boy and plans a romantic vacation with her hubby minus that son of hers (We would not want sonny boy destroying her romantic get-away. Oh no! The horrors!) So loverboy trounces the little b_tch. Unfortunately, she did not die but develops amnesia instead! Distraught , the husband leaves her so loverboy pretends to be the husband and takes care of her for 22 years! Fast forward to the end- she finds out the truth , there's a violent scuttle resulting on loverboy's death, he dies and she reconciles with her husband and son. True, loverboy reminds me of Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction but he was so sweet to the girl all this time that I was upset on what happened to him. I guess it's better than jail time.

The Demise of My Mystery Blog

I have been so lazy with my mystery blog that it (GASP!) stopped working! You can see my past reviews but unfortunately I just can't add anymore posts. Hence I am using this
blog for my murder mystery reviews. Nope, ladies and gentlemen! I have not stopped reading. I just got so lazy with life that I have neglected my blog. However, please note that I shall only review or "comment" on certain books, shows or movies that really made an impression on me that I am induced to release a barrage of rants or praises. Having said my "intro", past reviews can be found on:

The finals!

My final blog for this class in addition to my finals
1.What are the 3 things I got from this class:
a.) I learned more about css style sheets and am getting comfortable using them
b.) I love the forms. It's a great way of getting input from your clients without having to talk to them on the phone.
c.) I learned a lot more techniques that I could actually use in existing programs. In other words, if I use Dreamweaver and can't make a particular command work,I find it easier just to break in the code and change it to suit my needs.
2.I think the class pretty much covered the aspects of web design that the book has promised. The actual class has clarified whatever the book has failed to explain so it actually helped to show up for class.
3.I like the book! It is very concise and actually gives a lot of necessary information in order to build a website.

My Homepage

Please don't forget to visit my homepage at COS. By the way, I am not pleased with the external style sheet I used for my Mystery Guild Blogspot. Hence, I shall maintain the original css stylesheet in my CSCI 28B blog, aptly known as my Joie-ful thoughts.Ooooh! I can imagine my classmates cringing at that last statement.
